candle care
At óuchi, we believe that candles are more than just a source of light—they're an experience, a ritual, a way to infuse your space with love and warmth. To truly enjoy the magic of your soy candles and let them fill your home with that cozy, romantic glow, we’ve crafted a few simple tips to help you care for them with the same love they were made with.
1. Trim the wick: Before each burn, gently trim the wick to about 0.6 cm. This simple step keeps the flame steady and bright, preventing the dreaded soot and ensuring that your candle burns cleanly. A properly trimmed wick also helps your candle last longer, so you can enjoy it for many evenings to come.
2. Let it melt: On each burn, make sure the wax melts all the way to the edges of the container. This is especially important during the first burn! Allowing the candle to create a full, even pool of melted wax will prevent tunneling and give you a smooth, even burn every time. Think of it as letting your candle settle in for a perfect, cozy burn.
3. Stay safe: Safety is everything, so always keep your candles out of reach of little ones and curious pets. And, of course, never leave a candle burning unattended. While your óuchi candle is here to bring comfort, it still needs a watchful eye to keep things safe and sound.
4. Avoid drafts: Drafts, fans, and open windows can cause your candle’s flame to flicker or burn unevenly. By placing your candle in a calm, draft-free spot, you’ll help it burn more evenly and last longer, while also avoiding any mess from dripping wax.
5. Burn time: For the first burn, let your candle melt for at least 2-3 hours so that the wax melts evenly across the top layer. After that, we recommend burning your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This helps preserve both the structure of the candle and its fragrance, giving you a lasting scent experience without overwhelming the room.
6. Extinguish with care: When it’s time to put out your candle, gently snuff the flame or dip the wick into the wax to avoid smoke and maintain the fragrance. Blowing it out directly can sometimes cause excess smoke or even splatter the wax.
With these simple steps, you’ll get the most out of your óuchi soy candles—ensuring they burn bright, smell divine, and create that perfect ambiance for every special moment. Whether you're winding down after a long day, setting the stage for a romantic evening, or simply making your home feel more inviting, a little candle care goes a long way. With love and attention, your candle will reward you with countless hours of glowing warmth and beautiful fragrance.
After all, at óuchi, it’s not just about the candle—it’s about making your space feel like home.
xoxo
